Your mission

PETER DÖHLE Schiffahrts-KG is a provider of global maritime services with roots in Hamburg and home ports all over the world. We see ourselves as a company group rich in tradition yet future-oriented, providing tailor-made solutions for the entire shipping industry. To support our Shipmanagement at the next possible time, we are looking for a Crew Development Manager (m/f/d).

  • Develop and oversee the company’s cadet strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and future workforce needs.
  • Identify and recruit cadets, maintaining a strong and reliable talent pipeline.
  • Serve as a dedicated contact person for cadets, someone they can trust and rely on for guidance.
  • Track development progress, analyse training needs, and contribute to strategic workforce planning.
  • Plan, organise, and execute officer conferences and other in-person learning events.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with maritime academies 
  • Ensure onboard training meets company cultural standards, values, and performance expectations.
  • Support the Crew Development team in designing and delivering training programmes, career pathways, and capability-building initiatives.
  • Continuously evaluate training quality, applying best practices to drive ongoing improvement.

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Maritime Studies, Human Resources, Education, Organizational Psychology or a related field (psychology background is a plus, not a requirement).
  • At least two years of experience in maritime training, crew development, or talent management; cadet program experience preferred. Ideally with hands-on experience in a management position on board 
  • Additional training management certifications like Train the Trainer are an advantage
  • A deep understanding of international maritime regulations and safety standards is essential.
  • Solid project management skills  
  •  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with diverse stakeholder’s cross different cultural backgrounds
  • Fluent written and spoken business English
